What's the best way to record sound bits from a DVD ROM to a .wav file to use as sound events?

I have a favorite movie & I'd like to use some lines/sounds from the movie as different events (i.e. "I don't like SPAM" from Monty Python is my email notification). I have a DVD ROM drive. What's the best way to get sounds from the movie onto my computer using Windows X(tra)P(roblems)?
