Is it true that Christians will disociate with you for not joining their church?

I met what I thought was a nice husband wife couple. We became good friends. I babysat their children and supported their businesses. They pestered me into attending Sunday service at their church so I went Easter Sunday. They tried to pressure me into joining the church during service and I refused. Suddenly, they stopped taking my calls and I never heard from them again. I can only ume it was because I didn't join their church, I can't think of anything else. Am I correct in my umption and if so, why did they do this? Did the church tell them to?
