When people compliment me, am I obliged to...?

If it's someone you don't know well or are unlikely to see again, you don't need to tell them. If it's a friend, coworker you see every day, etc, then I think you should tell them, just because if they ever see you without the contacts/find out that they're contacts, it makes you seem kind of deceptive, like you lied about it.
